Receiving Your Student Aid Funding

Once your application is submitted, keep an eye on your email to stay informed when new information is available in your Advanced Education Student Portal account. Please review any emails from the Student Service Centre titled "Important Student Loan Information."

Tip: Keep your email address up to date to make sure you never miss a notification about your student aid. You can update your email address in your Advanced Education Student Portal.

Please read through the 2024-25 Saskatchewan Student Aid Handbook for more information.

Next Steps

Here's what to expect after the Student Service Centre has assessed your application:

  1. You will receive your Assessment Summary Letter, which will tell you:
    • the type of funding you are approved for (federal and provincial loan and grant funding);
    • how much funding you are eligible for; and
    • when you can expect to receive your funding.
  2. New Saskatchewan Student Aid recipients will receive a Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA) number with instructions. The MSFAA will need to be signed. An MSFAA is a multi-year, legally binding contract that only needs to be signed once. It outlines:
    • your responsibilities regarding receiving and repaying student aid; and
    • the terms and conditions of accepting and repaying your provincial and federal student loans.
  3. You will receive a welcome email from the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC). A secure URL in the email will invite you to use your MSFAA number to:
    • verify your identity by registering your account with the NSLSC; and
    • complete your MSFAA where you will be asked to accept the terms and conditions of the agreement.
  4. Your post-secondary institution will confirm your enrolment. (See below for more information.)
  5. Once the process is complete, you will receive your funding on the dates outlined in your Assessment Summary Letter.

Confirming Your Enrolment

Before you can receive your student aid funding, your post-secondary institution must confirm you are enrolled in an eligible post-secondary program for the entire study period.

Most schools will confirm your enrolment automatically every time you receive new student aid funding. The National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) will contact your school directly to confirm your enrolment as long as you have submitted a completed MSFAA. If you are attending a post-secondary institution that does not have electronic confirmation of enrolment, the NSLSC will send the form by mail directly to your school.

Once your enrolment is confirmed, your institution may draw from your federal funding to pay for your tuition. Any outstanding tuition amounts will be your responsibility to cover. Please contact your institution if you have any questions about this process. The remainder of your funding (if applicable) will be electronically deposited by the NSLSC into the bank account you provided on your MSFAA. Please review the Disbursement Schedule in your Assessment Summary Letter to determine when your payments will be deposited. The provincial portion of your student loan will be deposited by the NSLSC in monthly installments throughout your study period. You will not receive a monthly payment in your last month if your program ends before the 15th of the month. Take this into account when planning your budget.

Please Note: If your enrolment is confirmed late, your funds may be delayed. If you have questions, please contact the NSLSC.
