Managing Your Student Aid

It is important to keep your information up to date and stay aware of your student aid responsibilities while you are studying. This helps ensure that you keep your loan interest-free, maintain your student aid eligibility and do not miss important messages.

Please read through the 2024-25 Saskatchewan Student Aid Handbook for more information.

As a student receiving Saskatchewan Student Aid, your responsibilities are to:

  • notify the Student Service Centre about any changes to your personal information or program information;
  • ensure you remain within the required course load to be eligible for student aid;
  • achieve the academic standards of your institution or program;
  • maintain regular attendance (at least 90% or missing no more than three consecutive weeks); and
  • ensure your school confirms enrolment with the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) for any study periods in which you will not be receiving student aid. This maintains your payment-free, interest-free status.

Reporting Changes to Your Information

Examples of changes that must be reported include:

  • Changes to your scholarship or educational funding
  • Changes to your spouse's information
  • Changes to your marital status, family name or family size
  • Dropping or adding classes
  • Withdrawing from your studies
  • Switching schools or programs during your study period

Dropping or adding classes is an important change that must be reported to the Student Service Centre, especially if this causes you to become a part-time student rather than a full-time student.

  • Full-time students are required to take at least 60% of a full course load.
  • Part-time students are required to take between 20% and 59% of a full course load.
  • Students with a permanent, persistent or prolonged disability can choose to be considered full-time or part-time if they are taking between 40% and 59% of a full course load.

Your post-secondary institution determines the definition of a full course load.

Please note: You will be considered as discontinued; if you:

  • drop below the minimum required course load;
  • choose to withdraw from studies;
  • change schools during your study period; or
  • are expelled before the end of your study period.

Monitoring Your Student Aid

The National Student Loan Service Centre (NSLSC) is responsible for disbursing both provincial and federal student aid. You can monitor your student aid installments or check your loan balance by logging in to your  NSLSC account.
