Scholarship of Honour Recipients Announced

Released on November 9, 2023

The Government of Saskatchewan is proud to support eight recipients by awarding them with a Scholarship of Honour this year.

The scholarship provides a one-time award of $5,000 toward post-secondary education to returning Canadian Armed Forces members, and to spouses and children of fallen members or members with a disability.

"We are grateful to all Canadian Armed Forces Members for their unwavering dedication and sacrifice to protecting our country and freedom," Advanced Education Minister Gordon Wyant said. "The scholarship was created to express gratitude for the bravery of Saskatchewan people serving in the Canadian Forces and support their pursuit of post-secondary education."

Since 2009, 267 scholarships have been awarded, totalling over $1.3 million. Included among the recipients are 218 returning soldiers and 49 family members of fallen Canadian Armed Forces members or members with a disability.

Eligible candidates must be current or former Saskatchewan residents and must be returning service men and women who actively served in designated military operations in the Canadian Armed Forces (Regular or Reserves) after January 2001. The spouse and/or child of a person with a disability or deceased individuals who served in designated military operations after January 2001 may also be eligible. All candidates must be enrolled in a recognized Canadian post-secondary education institution.
