Today, the Advisory Committee on Francophone Affairs presented the Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs Laura Ross with two new reports detailing their on-going review and analysis of programs and policies to guide the implementation of Saskatchewan's French-language Services Policy. The reports are titled Infrastructure and The Education Continuum.
"The Government of Saskatchewan is committed to this on-going consultation with the Francophone community," Ross said. "We thank everyone on the advisory committee for their work."
The committee met with representatives from the ministries of Education, SaskBuilds and Procurement, and Parks, Culture and Sport, as well as with representatives of Francophone community organizations to discuss school and community infrastructure. The resulting report contains four recommendations.
The Committee also met with representatives of the Ministry of Education, as well as from community organizations and Francophone post-secondary institutions from the province to discuss access to education in French in Saskatchewan from early childhood to Grade 12. In its report, the Committee made seven recommendations.
"Infrastructure and the Education Continuum are both critically important issues for the Francophone community," Advisory Committee on Francophone Affairs Chair Michel Dubé said. "Good schools with adequate premises attract parents and encourage them to enroll their children. At the same time, the presence of adapted community centres allows Francophones to flourish, to continue living in French and to sustain their community."
