Fourth Annual Saskatchewan Access To Justice Week Proclaimed

Justice Minister and Attorney General Don Morgan has proclaimed October 20-25, as Saskatchewan Access to Justice Week.

“It is vital that our citizens know how to access understandable, timely and affordable justice services,” Morgan said.  “Thanks to the dedicated work of our partners, Access to Justice Week highlights the resources that are available.”

This year’s theme is Early Dispute Resolution.  Throughout the week, the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General and its partners will focus on raising the awareness of newer legal services like legal coaching, parenting co-ordination, mediation and arbitration.

There will be a number of workshops that promote legal coaching and unbundled legal services—which is when a client requests and pays for their lawyer to perform specific tasks and the client performs the rest.

A new website about unbundled and legal coaching services will also go live during the week on the College of Law’s CREATE Justice website at https://law.usask.ca/createjustice/.  Citizens can attend and participate in a number of events throughout Access to Justice Week, including a Free Legal Resources Fair and Tradeshow in Saskatoon—which includes a Walk-in Family Law Help session, as well as a number of presentations from local service providers.
