The Royal Saskatchewan Museum’s Dinovember is roaring to life this month with new exhibits that expand on the story of Scotty, the world’s largest T.rex, along with fresh programs and activities for guests of all ages.“Changing of the seasons is always significant at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum and this autumn is no exception,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Gene Makowsky said. “This Dinovember, the RSM presents several new displays and exciting activities to welcome you to the museum and further tell the story of Scotty – Saskatchewan’s international superstar!”
Dinovember in 3D – Month-long as supplies last
Visitors will receive a pack of collector cards featuring three of Saskatchewan’s amazing dinosaurs. Download the Dinos in 3D app to bring the card to life. The cards will be available for the month of Dinovember as supplies last.
New Additions to the CN T.rex Gallery
Several new displays have been added to the CN T.rex Gallery since the summer, including a fun, interactive station where guests choose different colours and patterns for dinosaur skin and see them projected onto a T.rex model, a display of unique plant fossils which help researchers understand the environment when Scotty roamed Saskatchewan and jaw fossils to show the different stages of growth for a T.rex. Of course, Scotty’s ferocious roar still shakes the gallery floor!
Discovering Dinosaurs - November 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 2 p.m. in the CN T.rex Gallery
Dinosaur lovers of all ages will be interested in this special program exploring more about Saskatchewan’s dinosaurs, starting with the provincial fossil and the world’s largest T.rex. These Saturday afternoon events begin with a 15-20 minute interactive talk followed by the opportunity for people to put their hands on real fossils – millions of years old.
Storytime with Cosmo - November 4 and 18 at 10:30 a.m. in the Paleo Pit
Storytime has a very special Dinovember guest this month – Cosmo the baby T.rex! Children aged two to five and their caregivers are invited to participate in stories and hands-on activities. For groups with eight children or more, please book ahead of time by emailing education@royalsaskmuseum.ca.
