$330,000 For Policing Initiatives In Yorkton

Released on August 14, 2019

The Government of Saskatchewan is providing $330,000 to the City of Yorkton for policing. The funding is being provided through Municipal Police Grants for three existing Yorkton RCMP positions in 2019-20.

“Public safety is a priority for provincial and municipal governments,” Highways and Infrastructure Minister and Yorkton MLA Greg Ottenbreit on behalf of Corrections and Policing Minister Christine Tell said.  “We’re proud to be able to provide consistent funding to help support policing initiatives in Yorkton.”

“The city of Yorkton is pleased that the Ministry of Corrections will continue to partner with us to provide policing in the Yorkton region,” Yorkton Mayor Bob Maloney said.  “Their contribution sustains the services we are able to supply to residents and adds to public safety in our area.”

The Ministry of Corrections and Policing provides funds to urban police services across Saskatchewan to support 128 municipal police positions and policing initiatives.
