Saskatchewan’s population continues to grow, reaching 1,162,062 people as of July 1, 2018 according to new figures released today by Statistics Canada. That’s an increase of 3,226 people in the past quarter and 11,280 people in the past year.
“Saskatchewan’s population has grown for more than 49 consecutive quarters, showing that our province is the place to be to live, work and to raise a family,” Immigration and Career Minister Jeremy Harrison said. “Newcomers to Saskatchewan are adding to the strength of our province and contributing to our growing economy.”
During the second quarter of 2018 (April 1 to July 1), Saskatchewan’s population increase was made up of a natural increase (births minus deaths) of 1,659 and net international migration of 4,385, offset by net interprovincial migration of -2,818.
