Further details are being released today about the upcoming visit of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada.

The Governor General will visit Saskatchewan October 18 to 20.  Her official welcome will take place on October 18 at 1:45 p.m. at the Legislative building, where she will be greeted by Premier Scott Moe and Lieutenant Governor W. Thomas Molloy.

Following her official welcome at the Legislative building, Her Excellency has invited the public to join her and His Honour for a walk around Wascana Park at 2:10 p.m., beginning at the Walter Scott Memorial, as part of Her Excellency’s #GGActive initiative.

“I’m very pleased the Governor General will have an opportunity to spend some time in our beautiful province and to meet some of Saskatchewan’s remarkable people,” Molloy said.  “Her Excellency is, herself, a truly remarkable Canadian, and I encourage everyone in Regina to come out and meet her on her arrival at the Legislative building, and to join us for the walk around Wascana Lake.”

Following the walk around Wascana Lake, Her Excellency will meet with Premier Moe at the Legislative building, and then visit the Saskatchewan War Memorial, just west of the building, followed by a meeting with His Honour at Government House.

“I look forward to the opportunity to meet Her Excellency and welcome her to our province,” Moe said.  “I know the vibrancy and warmth of our people will make for a memorable visit.”

On Friday October 19, Her Excellency will visit with school children at Ecole Ducharme in Moose Jaw, and tour 15 Wing Moose Jaw, which will include a demonstration by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.

On Saturday October 20, Her Excellency will visit RCMP “Depot” Division in Regina, and take part in a Mixed Honours Presentation, acknowledging several Canadian citizens for their extraordinary accomplishments.

In the afternoon, Her Excellency will travel to Humboldt where she will meet with the mayor and members of the community, as well as walk through the Humboldt Broncos Memorial Exhibit and watch the Humboldt Broncos take on the Melville Millionaires in a Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League home game.
