Celebrating School Bus Driver Appreciation Day in Saskatchewan

Released on October 16, 2017

Education Minister Bronwyn Eyre has proclaimed October 16, 2017 as School Bus Driver Appreciation Day in Saskatchewan.  Today is a chance to recognize the dedication and commitment of school bus drivers across the province, as they provide approximately 76,000 students with a safe ride to and from school each day.

“During the school year, school bus drivers play an important role safely transporting our students,” Eyre said.  “Thank you to all the drivers for their unwavering dedication to students and their families.”

Since 2010, School Bus Driver Appreciation Day has been proclaimed annually during Education Week in Saskatchewan as a way to recognize the important function that school bus drivers serve in caring for students on their way to and from school.  It is an opportunity for students, parents, caregivers, school divisions and education professionals to thank school bus drivers for their hard work in ensuring the safety of students across the province.
