The speed limit is being reduced to 80 km/hr on Highway 46 east of Regina to help address safety concerns.
“The reduced speed limit will help address safety in a busy traffic area,” Highways and Infrastructure Minister David Marit said. "We would like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience during the construction of the Regina Bypass.”
Construction of the Regina Bypass on Highway 1 east has resulted in higher traffic volumes and congestion on Highway 46. The reduced speed will be in effect from west of Prince of Wales Drive to the Pilot Butte Access Road.
“The RCMP would like to remind everyone to abide by the posted speed limits, avoid distractions and drive safely,” RCMP Staff Sergeant Gavin Nash of the White Butte detachment said.
People visiting family and friends this Thanksgiving long weekend are reminded to continue to watch for work zones. When approaching highway construction slow to 60 km/hr and watch for flaggers, signs or traffic signals.
Inclement weather may impact the start of new highway construction scheduled to begin this week including approximately 17 kilometres of surfacing on Highway 354 near Dilke. Paving on Highway 11 northbound lanes north of Davidson is nearing completion, construction is done on Highway 20 near Craven and work on Highway 376 near Maymont is complete.
