The Government of Saskatchewan is taking action to help ensure community safety for Estevan communities and families through the Municipal Police Grants. This contribution of $330,000 will continue to fund three Estevan Police Service positions.“Community safety in our cities, towns and rural municipalities is a priority for the Government of Saskatchewan,” Estevan MLA Lori Carr said on behalf of Justice Minister and Attorney General Gordon Wyant. “These three officers help ensure the safety of families and communities in Estevan and area.”
Municipal Police Grant funding supports three officer positions in the city of Estevan. These officers work on serious crime initiatives, community priorities and as part of Community Traffic Services Saskatchewan.
“These three officers perform important duties for our city and surrounding area,” Estevan Chief of Police Paul Ladouceur said. “Estevan communities and families are safer because of this important partnership we have with the province.”
This funding is part of $14.2 million provided to municipalities for 125 targeted police officer positions across the province.
More than $109 million has been invested in community safety province-wide through Municipal Police Grants since 2008-09. The City of Estevan has received more than $2.5 million since 2008-09.
