Four Saskatchewan Students Receive Funding to Pursue Agricultural EducationToday, Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart awarded $10,000 in scholarships to four students from across the province.
“It is encouraging to see the passion these youth have for the agriculture industry,” Stewart said. “They will play a significant role in continuing our stewardship and sustainability story for future generations.”
Grand prize-winner Sheldon Daniel from Avonlea will receive $4,000 for his video submission explaining how technological advancements help the agriculture industry feed a growing population.
“Agriculture is so diverse with many opportunities,” Daniel said. “I see so much potential for my future in the industry.”
Runner-up scholarships of $2,000 were awarded to Autumn Lawson of Rose Valley, Kaitlyn Kitzan of Theodore and Hailey Harms of Prince Albert.
“I want to congratulate these winners and thank all of the applicants for pursuing a career in agriculture and for being AGvocates in their communities,” Stewart said. “I wish you all the best as you continue in your education and enter Saskatchewan’s dynamic agriculture industry.”
Applicants were required to provide a letter of reference and submit a 1,000 word fact-based essay or a three minute video highlighting agriculture’s stewardship story.
