Weekly Construction Update
Nearly 36 kilometres (km) of grading and paving on Highways 51 and 21 between Kerrobert and Major is nearly complete, well ahead of schedule. When complete, the $30 million project will see the road upgraded from a gravel surface to pavement, offering motorists a smoother and safer ride. Work on the remaining five km is expected to wrap up this fall, weather permitting.
Other projects finished this week include paving work on 33 km of Highway 1 near Grenfell, 21 km of Highway 1 near Regina, and three km on Highway 22 west of Killaly. Also, three bridges have been either replaced or rehabilitated.
Drivers can expect to see highway construction crews working well into the fall and early winter. Remember to observe posted speed limits in construction zones and slow to 60 km/hr when passing highway workers and equipment.
