Things Will "Bump in the Night" at Government House

Released on October 26, 2015

Friday will mark the spooktacular return of Government House’s highly anticipated annual event, “Bump in the Night”!

This Halloween, parents, ghouls and goblins are invited to enjoy a magician in the ballroom, Judith Silverthorne reading from her popular book, Ghosts of Government House, a scavenger hunt in the museum and a variety of Victorian-themed crafts—including creating a Halloween mask.

“This event is a great opportunity to have children and their families visit and experience our national historic site, Government House, and celebrate Halloween,” Minister responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission Mark Docherty said.  “This event has been successful for a few years now.  With the entertainment that is scheduled for this year, we expect it to be another great event.”

Prizes and treats will also be available for those who attend in their scariest costumes.  Rumoured to be haunted, Government House is an ideal setting for a family Halloween party.

This Provincial Heritage Property was built in 1891 and once served as the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of the Northwest Territories.  Although it’s no longer a home, Government House still serves as the office of the Lieutenant Governor today.  It is also a popular tourist attraction, as programming and tours are offered to visitors year round.

The party will take place at Government House, Friday, October 30, from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., located at 4607 Dewdney Avenue, Regina.
