Company Fined for OHS Violation

Released on October 16, 2015

Premier Horticulture Ltd. of Riviere-Du-Loup, Quebec pleaded guilty to one count under occupational health and safety legislation and was fined $28,000 in Melfort Provincial Court on October 13, 2015.

The company pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to develop and implement a traffic control plan to protect its workers.  One other charge was stayed.

Charges stemmed from an incident that occurred in October of 2013 where two forklifts collided in the company’s shipping yard.  A worker was seriously injured.

The Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety is committed to eliminating workplace injuries and illnesses by ensuring compliance with fair and balanced occupational health and safety standards.
