Province Supports Programs for Victims of Interpersonal Violence in Humboldt

Released on June 10, 2015

The Government of Saskatchewan continues to support a Humboldt organization that offers support for individuals and families living with violence and abuse.

“Organizations like PARTNERS Family Services play a critical role in our overall support system for women living with violence,” Social Services Minister and Humboldt MLA Donna Harpauer said.  “I’m proud that we’re once again able to help organizations that assist Saskatchewan families when they need it most.”

Harpauer will be one of the speakers at the second annual Community Rising Gala in Humboldt this evening.  The event is hosted and organized by PARTNERS Family Services and will cap off an entire day of activities aimed at raising awareness around family and gender violence.

“This province acknowledges not only the ongoing needs in our communities but also the positive changes we are helping to create within the families and communities we serve,” PARTNERS Family Services Executive Director Rachel Trann said.  “This renewed funding allows us to provide direct one-on-one support to individuals and families, preventative programming, outreach services, and educational campaigns to help make positive change on an individual and community level.”

In 2015-16, the Ministry of Social Services will provide PARTNERS Family Services with more than $389,000 for counselling supports and educational programming.  In addition, the Ministry of Justice is contributing more than $50,000 as part of its Interpersonal Violence and Abuse Program.

PARTNERS Family Services is a non-profit, community-based organization that has been offering support to families in the Humboldt area since opening its doors in 2001.  More information is available at www.partnersfamilyservices.ca/.
