Weekly Construction Update
Work continues on 28 projects across the province this week. With construction continuing through the long weekend, travelers can expect some delays. Please remember to check the Highway Hotline for up-to-date road information to help plan your trip.
Following the long weekend six new projects will begin. Major work includes repaving 21 kilometres of Highway 1 west of Regina and 21 kilometres of Highway 3 near Paradise Hill and Frenchman Butte. Crews will also be working to ensure that airplanes have a smoother landing at Buffalo Narrows Airport by repaving the existing runways, taxiways and aprons.
This week, six projects have been completed across the province. Finished projects include the paving of Highway 6 between Minton and Ceylon, Highway 41A near Melfort and Highway 14 south of Wilkie. A culvert has also been installed on Highway 937 – a project previously delayed because of wildfires in the north.
Additional travel information about emergency road closures, the status of ferries, barges and other road activities can also be found on the Highway Hotline at www.saskatchewan.ca/live/transportation/highway-hotline. It's also available by calling 306-787-7623 in Regina, 306-933-8333 in Saskatoon, the SaskTel cellular network at *ROAD, and toll-free across Canada at 1-888-335-7623.
Drivers are reminded to observe posted speed limits in construction zones and slow to 60 km/hr when passing highway workers and equipment.
The weekly construction update provides Saskatchewan residents with the latest details on projects underway to help plan safe and efficient travel throughout the summer and fall.
