$17 Million Worth of Paved Road and Passing Lanes Ready for Use

Released on July 9, 2015

Weekly Construction Update

A major paving project has wrapped up on Highway 9 near Dubuc in the Melville area, providing drivers with a smoother, wider driving surface.

Work included 14.5 kilometres of paving from five kilometres north of Dubuc to the Bangor Access Road.  Crews also widened and paved 11.5 kilometres of road from the Bangor Access Road to the junction of Highway 15.

In addition, the final set of passing lanes on Highway 7 between Delisle and Rosetown are officially complete.  A total of four sets of passing lanes were built, addressing increasing traffic volumes in the area.  Drivers are reminded to stay in the right lane unless passing.

There are also many new projects added to the construction update this week including some culvert installations and one bridge replacement.

With several forest fires burning in northern Saskatchewan and reduced visibility due to smoke, people are reminded to check out the Highway Hotline at www.saskatchewan.ca/live/transportation/highway-hotline for the latest road information and construction information.  The status of ferries, barges and other road activities can also be found on the Highway Hotline.

Road information is also available by calling 306-787-7623 in Regina, 306-933-8333 in Saskatoon, the SaskTel cellular network at *ROAD, and toll-free across Canada at 1-888-335-7623.

The weekly construction update provides Saskatchewan residents with the latest details on projects underway to help plan safe and efficient travel throughout the summer and fall.

Drivers are reminded to slow to 60 km/hr when passing highway workers and equipment and observe the posted speed limits in construction zones.

The Government of Saskatchewan has invested a record $5.2 billion in transportation infrastructure since 2008.
