Protective Services Medals Presented Today in Moose Jaw

Today in Moose Jaw, Provincial Secretary Nadine Wilson joined Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield to present the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal to its latest recipients from the Friendly City and the region.

“It’s truly a privilege to recognize such outstanding individuals who work so hard keeping our citizens and our communities safe,” Wilson said.  “I salute you for your efforts, which exemplify your dedication to public service in this great province.”

Established in 2003, medal recipients vary and can include firefighters, police officers, corrections workers, Canadian Armed Forces members, RCMP, conservation officers, deputy sheriffs, Canada Border Services Agency officers and emergency medical responders.

The medal recognizes individuals with 25 years or more of exemplary service protecting Saskatchewan people or their property.  It can either be in a volunteer or a full-time capacity.

Surmounted by the St. Edward's Crown, the circular medal bears a shield with a lion on a stylized western red lily and the motto “Qui civitatem tuentur” (who guard the citizenry).  It is suspended from a ribbon of green with two narrow gold stripes, the provincial colours.
