Provincial Secretary Nadine Wilson joined Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield in Prince Albert today to present the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal to its newest recipients.
“Saskatchewan is truly blessed to have such dedicated individuals, who day in and day out, work hard to make our province a safer and a better place,” Wilson said. “Thank you for your quarter century of service.”
The medal recognizes those with 25 years or more of exemplary service protecting Saskatchewan people or their property.
Established in 2003, previous medal recipients have included firefighters, police officers, corrections workers, Canadian Armed Forces members, RCMP, conservation officers, deputy sheriffs, Canada Border Services Agency officers and emergency medical responders.
The circular medal is surmounted by the St. Edward's Crown and bears a shield with a lion on a stylized western red lily and the motto ‘Qui civitatem tuentur’ (who guard the citizenry). It is suspended from a ribbon of green with two narrow gold stripes, the provincial colours.
