Government House 125th Anniversary Tea

Released on December 4, 2015

Tea lovers will be able to purchase the special Government House 125th Anniversary Tea starting tomorrow.

This past October, the public was asked to help select this special “signature” tea flavour to mark both the 125th anniversary of Government House as well as the 25th season of the well-loved Victorian teas hosted by the Government House Historical Society in 2016.

The winning tea blend was selected from three options, and is a garden fresh blend of black teas paired with strawberry and mint flavours.

“This tea is reminiscent of George Watt, Government House’s legendary gardener, who started growing strawberries and mint in the beautiful Edwardian Gardens in the early 1900s,” Government House Executive Director Carrie Ross said.  “It is delicious warm or chilled, so it can be enjoyed throughout our anniversary year.”

The Government House 125th Anniversary Tea is available through the Government House Historical Society at Government House and at Cuppa T’ at 2732 - 13th Avenue in Regina from now until the end of 2016 and would make a great holiday gift.

This initiative was made possible through a partnership with the Government House Historical Society, Government House and local tea merchant, Cuppa T’.  All proceeds from the tea sales will go to the Government House Historical Society to support the preservation, promotion and enhancement of Government House, a National Historic Site.

Government House is located at 4607 Dewdney Avenue, Regina and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday.  Admission is free and donations are accepted.
