Weekly Construction Update
Though Saskatchewan is enjoying great late-summer weather now, the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure continues to focus on areas damaged by our many, very different seasons. Highway 322 from Highway 20 to Silton is being restored to address surface failures as high water levels saturated roadbeds this spring.
The repaired road will provide a smoother surface for motorists travelling to Silton or nearby resort communities. This project is expected to finish up in October, weather permitting. Crews will continue to maintain the remaining kilometres of Highway 322 and Highway 220.
The ministry is working with municipal governments on a plan to repair damaged RM roads and provincial highways in the area.
Paving work is also beginning on Highway 35 near the U.S. border and Highway 6 near Ceylon. In addition, intersection and paving work is starting near Warman. These projects are expected to wrap up this fall.
Additional travel information about emergency road closures, the status of ferries, barges, and other road activities can also be found on the Highway Hotline at www.saskatchewan.ca/live/transportation/highway-hotline. It's also available by calling 306-787-7623 in Regina, 306-933-8333 in Saskatoon and toll-free across Canada at 1-888-335-7623.
Drivers are reminded to observe posted speed limits in construction zones and slow to 60 km/hr when passing highway workers and equipment.
The weekly construction update provides Saskatchewan residents with the latest details on projects underway to help plan safe and efficient travel throughout the summer and fall.
The Government of Saskatchewan has invested a record $5.2 billion in transportation infrastructure since 2008.
