Hub Program Celebrated in Lloydminster

Released on September 26, 2014

The Government of Saskatchewan joined the City of Lloydminster and the Alberta Government today to celebrate the Community Mobilization Hub program.  Through the Building Partnerships to Reduce Crime initiative, this program aims to reduce crime and victimization.

“We are very pleased to join our partners in celebrating the positive impacts of the Lloydminster Hub program since it was established in December 2013,” Justice Minister and Attorney General Gordon Wyant said.  “By working collaboratively, we are aligning resources to help individuals and support community safety and wellness.”

The Hub consists of human services from the Prairie North Health Region, the Saskatchewan Ministries of Justice and Social Services, the Public and Catholic School Divisions, the Alberta Ministries of Justice and Human Services, and the RCMP Lloydminster Detachment.  These partners come together twice a week to help find ways to immediately connect individuals and families experiencing risk to meaningful supports and services.

“The Government of Alberta has appreciated working with dedicated partners from both Saskatchewan and Alberta since the inception of the Lloydminster Hub,” Assistant Deputy Minister of Corrections for Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Dr. Curtis Clarke said.  “The collaboration of the various agencies for the good of a community is a testament to what can be done if we look past the division of a geographical border.”

With 10 active Hubs across Saskatchewan, this initiative is a key component of the Government of Saskatchewan’s Child and Family Agenda.
