Today, Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart announced $10,000 for students pursuing a career in agriculture with the launch of the fifth annual Saskatchewan Agriculture Student Scholarship Program.“The agriculture industry is full of opportunities for young people - from research and science to agrology and finance - there is an option for youth to think ag in almost any career,” Stewart said. “This scholarship encourages the best and brightest young minds to pursue a career in this exciting industry and gives them an opportunity to publically share their enthusiasm for agriculture.”
Students interested in the scholarship must produce a three minute video or a well-researched, fact-based 1,000 word essay about why they are pursuing a career in agriculture, what their dream agriculture job is or to profile someone in the industry that has inspired them.
“The great thing about this scholarship is the option to make a video; winning this scholarship has made me realize what a large impact media has on the agricultural industry, for both the consumer and producer,” winner of the 2014 Agriculture Student Scholarship Joseé Monvoisin said.
One winning scholarship valued at $4,000 and three runner-up scholarships valued at $2,000 each will be awarded to students in Grade 12 and recent graduates entering agriculture-related post-secondary studies in 2015.
