Today, Prince Albert Northcote MLA Victoria Jurgens on behalf of Education Minister Don Morgan joined children, parents, staff and community members to celebrate the expansion of the Hope’s Home in Prince Albert, a family-focused centre that provides care and support for medically fragile children with complex needs. The Government of Saskatchewan provided $194,166 for this project.“Quality early learning and child care is incredibly valuable for children,” Jurgens said. “By investing in organizations like Hope’s Home and supporting the great work that they do, we are providing child care for parents who need it in this growing economy and building a better future for families and children in Saskatchewan.”
Hope’s Home opened in 2013 with 44 child care spaces. With the expansion of these additional 46 spaces, the centre now has 90 child care spaces in total, including 6 infant, 23 toddler, 51 preschool and 10 school-age spaces. The organization has child care facilities in both Regina and Prince Albert, and this celebration also marks the one-year anniversary of Hope’s Home’s opening in Prince Albert.
"My heart is filled with joy as we expand our services for children with complex medical needs and their families,” Hope’s Home Executive Director Jacqueline Risher said. “Thank you Prince Albert for welcoming us with open arms and making our desire to help more families and children provincially a dream come true!”
Since November 2007, the Government of Saskatchewan has made a record investment in licensed child care, allocating funding for 4,935 new child care spaces to communities across the province. This year’s allocation raises the number of funded licensed child care spaces in Saskatchewan to more than 14,200, an increase of 53 per cent in the last seven years.
