NAOSH Week Reminds Everyone to Make Safety a Habit

Released on May 5, 2014

The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed May 4-10 North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week.  This year’s theme is Make Safety a Habit.

NAOSH Week, which is observed throughout North America, promotes health and safety in the workplace and at home.

“We are all responsible for promoting and protecting safe and healthy workplaces,” Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Minister Don Morgan said.  “Through our WorkSafe partnership with the Workers’ Compensation Board, the government remains committed to our goal of Mission: Zero.  As far as we are concerned, the only acceptable number of workplace injuries or illnesses is zero.”

Among many events being held throughout the province, luncheons have been planned in Regina at the Conexus Arts Centre on May 5 and in Saskatoon at Prairieland Park on May 6.  The luncheons will feature a keynote address from Josh Dueck, a Canadian Paralympic sit-skier who earned gold and silver at the 2014 Sochi Paralympics.

Saskatchewan NAOSH Week activities are promoted and co-ordinated by the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, the Workers’ Compensation Board, the Government of Canada, Canadian Society of Safety Engineering, Saskatchewan Safety Associations and the Saskatchewan Safety Council.
