Services to children and families on the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation are being strengthened thanks to a recent accreditation process.Peter Ballantyne Child and Family Services Inc. (PBCFSI) achieved accreditation through the internationally-recognized Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) Canada. CARF is an independent body that sets rigourous benchmark standards for quality in the human services field, including child and youth services.
“I am so pleased to celebrate this significant and important achievement with Chief Beatty,” Social Services Minister June Draude said. “This accreditation is proof that the ministry and our First Nation agency partners are committed to strengthening the child welfare system and improving services to children and families in need.”
“Accreditation through CARF means our agency conforms to nationally and internationally-recognized service standards,” Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Chief Peter A. Beatty said. “I am very proud that our agency has worked so hard to ensure that children and families in our communities receive the best service possible.”
PBCFSI is one of the largest First Nation Child and Family Services agencies in the province, and serves the communities of Kinoosao, Southend, Deschambault Lake, Pelican Narrows, Sandy Bay, Amisk Lake, Sturgeon Landing, Kiskachewan, and the central office at the Chief Joseph Custer Reserve in the City of Prince Albert.
