Nine New Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal Recipients Announced

Prince Albert, Moosomin, Regina, Swift Current and Saskatoon are the homes of the newest recipients of the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal, announced today by Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield.

“I feel deeply fortunate to live in a province with generous and capable individuals like these nine impressive recipients,” Solomon Schofield said.  “I congratulate them on this well-deserved honour and I thank them for giving so much to so many.”

The medal recognizes an outstanding volunteer or someone who exemplifies exceptional community involvement.  The 2013 recipients are:
  • Dr. David Buettner, Prince Albert
  • Barb L. Butler, Regina
  • T. Morley Gusway, Regina
  • Maisie Hanna, Regina
  • Betty McDougall, Swift Current
  • Ted Merriman, Saskatoon
  • Margaret Sandison, Regina
  • Pansy Taylor, Moosomin
  • Walter A. Thiessen (posthumous), Saskatoon
Since its 1995 inception, 166 people have received the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal.

The medal will be presented by the Lieutenant Governor this spring.
