Melfort Business Guilty of Labour Standards Violation

George Sterner Trucking Ltd. operating as Crossroads Café & Bar in Melfort pleaded guilty to two charges under Saskatchewan’s Labour Standards Act and was fined $720 in Melfort Provincial Court on June 10, 2014.

The charges were laid after the company failed to pay overtime and final wages within 14 days of termination.  One other charge against the company was withdrawn.

The Employment Standards Division of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety supports fair and equitable workplace practices through public awareness and enforcement of The Saskatchewan Employment Act and regulations.  Whenever necessary, violators will be prosecuted.
