Government Invests More Than $8.2 Million in Community-Based Organizations

The Government of Saskatchewan continues to improve community safety by delivering important services to approximately 4,000 offenders and 2,000 victims in the province.  In 2014-15, seven one-year agreements totalling $817,000 and 33 three-year agreements totalling $7.4 million were established.

“Community-based organizations and other third parties are a critical component in the corrections service delivery,” Corrections and Policing Minister Christine Tell said.  “The services are designed to reduce the risk to re-offend for a diverse group of youth and adults whose offences range from minor to serious violent offences.”

Community-based organizations and third-parties deliver a range of programs that focus on employment and educational skills, addictions services, reintegration and alternative measures programs, and community mobilization under Building Partnerships to Reduce Crime, among others.

Programs and services are reviewed on an annual basis to ensure they align with an evidence-based approach.  By focusing on best practices with measurable outcomes, we receive the best value for every dollar spent.
