Child Welfare Legislation Review Continues

Released on June 12, 2014

The Ministry of Social Services’ comprehensive review of its child welfare legislation is underway and public feedback is requested.  This review is part of the Ministry’s Child Welfare Transformation Strategy.

Anyone with an interest in child welfare in Saskatchewan is invited to complete an online survey.  The survey can be accessed until June 30, 2014, on the Government of Saskatchewan’s website.  For more information on the review and to fill out the online survey, please visit www.socialservices.gov.sk.ca/CFS-Adoption-Discussion-Guide.

“Your input and feedback is critical to transforming our child welfare system and our legislation,” Social Services Minister Donna Harpauer said.  “I encourage everyone who is interested in shaping the future for our children and families in our province to fill out the online survey before June 30.”

The Child and Family Services Act and The Adoption Act, 1998 are the two pieces of legislation that are being reviewed.  These two Acts not only guide the ministry in their daily work, but also form the foundation of the child welfare system in Saskatchewan.

If you have questions or if you or someone you know would like to request a paper copy of the survey, please feel free to contact the Ministry of Social Services toll-free at 1-800-565-2400, by email at CFSLegislationReview@gov.sk.ca, or by mail at the following address:
