Though the in-person consultation process has now concluded, citizens still have time to help shape the future of Saskatchewan people with disabilities by taking part in the online consultation process.
“I would like to thank the more than 800 individuals who participated in the 18 face-to-face consultations across the province,” Social Services Minister Donna Harpauer said. “I commend these individuals for demonstrating their commitment to improving the lives of people who experience disabilities. Their passion, stories and solutions will help make Saskatchewan the best place in Canada to live for people with disabilities.
“A special thank you goes out to the members of the Citizen Consultation Team (CCT) for their leadership throughout the consultation process. Each of the team members worked hard to ensure that concerns were heard, issues were identified and innovative potential solutions were brought forward.”
The province-wide forums concluded May 29, 2014, in Saskatoon. Online feedback and written submissions will be accepted until June 30, 2014. The CCT will consider all public input received as they work with government to develop the recommendations that will shape the Disability Strategy.
The online survey for the Saskatchewan Disability Strategy can be found at www.saskatchewan.ca/disabilitystrategy.
Citizens are also encouraged to join the conversation on Facebook and take part in the conversation at www.facebook.com/skdisability. Along with the online survey feedback, posts and comments on the Disability Strategy’s Facebook page will be considered in the development of the Strategy.
“Thank you to everyone who has participated in the online consultation process through social media and the online workbook,” Harpauer said. “Though the in-person consultations have ended, I encourage everyone to continue sharing their ideas and stories on Facebook and through the online survey.”
