Government House Invites You to an Old-Fashioned Victorian Christmas

Released on December 10, 2014

The fifth annual Old-Fashioned Victorian Christmas, hosted by the Provincial Capital Commission at Government House, 4607 Dewdney Avenue, is a fun event for the entire family.

Guests can enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides through the Edwardian Gardens.  To warm up afterward, they can enter Government House to listen to Christmas carolers, decorate gingerbread cookies, have a Christmas family photo taken and tour the Amédée Forget Museum.  The evening will also include a visitor from the North Pole.

The event takes places Saturday, December 13 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  Admission is free.

“Government House is a beautiful, festive place this time of year,” Minister responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission Mark Docherty said.  “This event is a welcoming, traditional holiday celebration and makes a perfect evening for a wide array of visitors—families, friends, new residents and young people alike.”

“The Old-Fashioned Victorian Christmas is one of Government House’s most well-attended public events,” Government House Executive Director Carrie Ross said.  “We generally expect to welcome more than 1,000 guests to Government House during the event and we don’t expect this year to be any different.”

Guests who have their picture taken at the event can download their photos afterward at www.opcc.gov.sk.ca.  For more information about the Old-Fashioned Victorian Christmas, call 306-787-9261.
