Michael McLay of Saskatoon pleaded guilty to one count under occupational health and safety legislation and was fined $840 in Saskatoon Provincial Court on April 10, 2014.
Michael McLay pleaded guilty to:
- contravening section 116 of the regulations (failure to ensure use of a fall protection system at a temporary or permanent work area where a worker may fall three metres or more) and was fined $600 with a $240 surcharge.
The charge relates to an inspection on October 2, 2012, where an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officer observed workers on a roof working in violation of occupational health and safety legislation.
In a separate matter, Alexander Munroe of Saskatoon pleaded guilty to one count under occupational health and safety legislation and was fined $840 in Saskatoon Provincial Court on April 10, 2014.
Alexander Munroe pleaded guilty to:
- contravening section 116 of the regulations (failure to use a fall protection system at a temporary or permanent work area where a worker may fall three metres or more) and was fined $600 with a $240 surcharge.
The charge relates to an inspection on November 7, 2012, where an OHS Officer observed an individual working on a residential roof without utilizing fall protection equipment.
The Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety works to eliminate workplace injuries by ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards through focused interventions with high injury employers, enforcement tools, and where appropriate, prosecutions.
