SASKATOON EMPLOYER FOUND GUILTY OF LABOUR STANDARDS VIOLATION

Marinel Manzuc, operating as Sunbird Enterprises of Saskatoon has been found guilty of one charge under Saskatchewan’s Labour Standards Act and was fined $1,400 in Saskatoon Provincial Court on October 11, 2013.

The employer was charged with failing to pay final wages within 14 days of termination after prosecution was initiated on June 7, 2012.  Two other charges were stayed.

The Labour Standards Division of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety supports fair and equitable workplace practices through public awareness and enforcement of The Labour Standards Act and regulations as well as other labour legislation.  Whenever necessary, violators will be prosecuted.
