GRAND OPENING OF NEW WARMAN SCHOOL CELEBRATED

Released on November 15, 2013

Today Education Minister Don Morgan, along with Central Services Minister and MLA for Martensville Nancy Heppner, joined students, teachers, members of the community and representatives from the Prairie Spirit School Division to celebrate the grand opening of Warman Community Middle School.  The total cost of the new school was more than $29 million.  The Government of Saskatchewan contributed approximately $18.7 million to the project.

“Warman is one of Saskatchewan’s fastest growing communities and we recognize that more school infrastructure is required to meet the needs of the students, their families and the community,” Morgan said.  “The new Warman Community Middle School will provide the space students need to for a high-quality education that will prepare them for their future.”

Warman Community Middle School was designed to the LEED silver standard and features flexible learning areas that will allow teachers to shape students’ learning spaces.  The new school, combined with the adjacent Legends Centre, will also serve the community through features such as a 400 seat theatre, ice arena, six gyms and a shared library with the regional library system.  Approximately 525 students are enrolled at the new school.

In addition to this school, it was recently announced that one of nine new joint-use schools will be built in Warman to address extraordinary growth in that community.

Since November 2007, the Government of Saskatchewan has committed approximately $600 million toward school infrastructure including 43 major capital projects.
