CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS IN THE CAPITAL

Regina residents and visitors to Saskatchewan’s capital are invited to the Canada Day Celebration in Wascana Park on July 1.

“Canada Day is a day to come together and celebrate our great nation and what it means to be Canadian,” Minister responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission Kevin Doherty said.  “I invite everyone in the capital city and surrounding area to come celebrate Canada’s birthday in beautiful Wascana Park.”

Opening ceremonies will begin at 12 noon Monday on the Main Stage across from the Legislative Building.  The program will include a 21 Gun Salute, remarks by dignitaries and musical performances by Saskatchewan Express.

There will be a variety of performers, events and activities happening on the Legislative Building grounds throughout the day.  For more information about Regina’s Canada Day celebration, refer to the attached map or visit www.reginacanadaday.ca.

At Government House, Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield will host the annual Lieutenant Governor’s Garden Party.  There will be free entertainment, children’s activities and refreshments from 1 to 4 p.m.; with a formal program beginning at 2 p.m.  Government House will be open for tours, including the new feature exhibit From Far and Wide – Honouring Great Canadians.  For more information on the Lieutenant Governor’s Garden Party, visit www.ltgov.sk.ca.
