The Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) reminds 2011 flooding victims about the early payments of $3,000 available to individuals applying for financial assistance for property damage from severe flooding.
"Our government remains committed to helping residents affected by severe weather," Corrections, Public Safety and Policing Minister D. F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert said. "We have moved quickly to offer support to residents and municipalities, and will continue to make that assistance available so that victims can start the recovery process."
The special early payments are preliminary payments, with additional financial assistance being offered to eligible claimants whose claims are more than $3,000. PDAP anticipates having the early payment cheques to qualifying individuals within approximately two weeks from filing, although an extremely high volume of claims may prevent that goal from being met in every case.
These payments were introduced in 2010 to provide quick support to residents of Maple Creek affected by unprecedented summer rainfall and were extended to residents of other communities devastated by flooding after that.
PDAP Claims During Postal Disruption:
PDAP applications are currently being accepted by email at pdapdocs.gov.sk.ca and fax at 306-798-2318 or can be dropped off at claimants' local RM, town, village office or city hall.
