Number of Opportunities Jumps by 40 Per Cent
Saskatchewan continues to be a province ripe with opportunities. In July, the province's SaskJobs.ca website saw 12,484 job postings by employers in 281 communities. This is a 40 per cent jump over July 2010.
"The increase in activity on the Saskjobs.ca website is another indicator of our province's strong economic position," Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister Rob Norris said. "With the lowest unemployment rate in the country and our growing population, people from across Canada and around the world are experiencing first-hand the Saskatchewan Advantage."
Other July statistics of note for SaskJobs.ca (all changes noted are year-over-year):
- The number of jobs posted in the Natural and Applied Science category jumped by 96 per cent;
- The Trades and Primary Industry categories accounted for 4,544 jobs - more than a third of the overall total posted; and
- The number of full-time positions posted jumped to 7,961, an increase of 63 per cent.
Saskjobs.ca is also popular with job seekers, with more than 760,000 visits to the site in July, nine per cent more than July 2010. Of those visits, 41,000 were from mobile devices, an increase of more than 297 per cent from July 2010. Once again, visits from outside Canada saw a significant increase, with a year-over-year jump of 43 per cent. Since January 1, 2011, there have been 5.9 million visits to the site.
"With more than 8,400 jobs posted right now, there are a multitude of opportunities available throughout the province," Norris said.
SaskJobs.ca is Saskatchewan's largest job-matching website. The site provides job posting services free of charge for employers across the province and free résumé posting for job seekers from around the world.
