Motorists are advised to be aware of upcoming and ongoing provincial highway construction projects as they travel throughout Saskatchewan.
"As we head into the Canada Day long weekend, motorists can use the Highway Hotline and the weekly construction update as tools to help plan safe and efficient routes to their favourite holiday destination," Highways and Infrastructure Minister Jim Reiter said. "Motorists are also reminded to be alert as they approach any highway construction, obey all flag persons and slow to 60 km/hr when passing highway workers and equipment."
New construction activity expected to be underway for this period includes microsurfacing on Highway 15 west of Nokomis and Highway 23 east of Weekes. For more details and a list of other long-term projects in various stages of construction, please see the attached backgrounder.
For other important travel information, such as emergency road closures due to severe weather, flooding or forest fires, along with short-term maintenance activities, motorists can check the Highway Hotline online at http://www.highways.gov.sk.ca/road-conditions/.
