Justice Minister and Attorney General Don Morgan voiced his support for the actions taken by the federal government to address organized crime and to hold accountable people who commit serious crimes when the Federal, Provincial and Territorial Ministers responsible for justice and public safety met in Fredericton, New Brunswick last week.
Among the issues discussed at the meeting was the serious problem of missing persons and particular concerns around missing Aboriginal women and girls.
"Missing persons is a very real problem in Saskatchewan and is a great concern to me and this government," Morgan said. "I have and will continue to support the development of a national missing person database to provide nationwide sharing of information on missing persons."
Ministers set priorities for reforms to deal with organized crime and noted the progress made already with Bill C-25 (Credit for time served) and Bill S-4, which provides police and courts new tools to address identity theft.
"We will continue to work together with our counterparts in other jurisdictions to address these areas of support for the safety and security of Saskatchewan people," Morgan said.
