NEW JUDGE FOR YORKTON

Patrick Robert Koskie has been appointed a judge of the Provincial Court for Yorkton.

"Judge Koskie's extensive knowledge of family, administrative, criminal and labour law will serve him well in his new role as a Provincial Court judge," Justice Minister Frank Quennell said.

Judge Koskie received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Saskatchewan in 1982. He began his practice of law with the firm of Stamatinos Leland Koskie and in 1987 became a partner in that firm. His practice of criminal law has included acting as both an Agent of the Crown as a prosecutor and as defence counsel. He has specialized in family law for the past 10 years.

Judge Koskie has a diverse background of community involvement from alcohol and drug treatment for youth, to seniors' housing and taxation related to assessment. He has also been involved in several community fund-raising initiatives as well as the Saskatchewan Summer and Winter Games.
