A series of anti-violence posters was unveiled in Regina today.
With a theme of What Some People Do To Others is a Crime, the posters depict
senior abuse, bullying, the cycle of violence from one generation to another
and healthy versus unhealthy relationships.
"A recent omnibus poll shows us that the majority of Saskatchewan residents
consider violence within the family an important public issue," Minister
Responsible for the Status of Women Joanne Crofford said.
"Education and awareness are key to the prevention of violence. The Government
of Saskatchewan is committed to working with community groups like STOPS to
Violence to eliminate it in our communities."
"These posters promote the message that violence and abuse can be a criminal
offence, can take many forms and are everyone's responsibility to STOP," STOPS
to Violence Tasks Committee member Pauline Penn said.
STOPS to Violence is a partnership of more than 50 community-based
organizations and government departments working together to promote healthy
relationships and ending violence and abuse.
The Saskatchewan Women's Secretariat provided funding to produce the posters.
