HUDSON BAY WOMEN'S GROUP RECEIVES INTERNET ACCESS AND TRAINING GRANT

Released on April 15, 1998

Andy Renaud, MLA for Carrot River, on behalf of Judy Bradley, minister

responsible for the Status of Women, today presented a Hudson Bay

women's organization with a grant to enable them to access the

Internet and train members to use the new communications technologies.

The Hudson Bay and District Crisis Centre will receive $7,000 from the

Women's Organizations On Line Program, an initiative of the

Saskatchewan Women's Secretariat.

"This funding will enable the Hudson Bay and District Crisis Centre to

network more easily, access information more quickly and serve the

needs of their members more effectively," Renaud said.

The Hudson Bay and District Crisis Centre provides crisis intervention

and prevention services to women involved in domestic violence. It

provides 24 hour access to safe shelter, as well as information and

referral services.
