2. Apply for the Targeted Sector Support Initiative by April 30

Applications for the latest Targeted Sector Support (TSS) intake and adjudication are due by April 30. Applications can be submitted at any time during the year and will be adjudicated twice annually.

The TSS Initiative is a cost-shared grant program that uses a portion of Municipal Revenue Sharing ($1.5 million per fiscal year) to support projects that strengthen municipalities’ core operational capabilities through increased regional cooperation. Projects are intended to assist in supporting more efficient and effective municipal service delivery, and enhanced governance and administrative capacity in Saskatchewan. Partnering municipalities can apply for up to 75 per cent on eligible project costs to strengthen their core municipal responsibilities.

The initiative is managed by the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association on behalf of the TSS Steering Committee that consists of SUMA, the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities, the Saskatchewan Association of Northern Communities (New North) and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Government Relations.

4. Energy Efficiency Standards Revert to Tier 1

Shifting national priorities, increasing prices and a renewed focus on local industry means the Government of Saskatchewan has returned to Tier 1 in National Building Code (NBC) energy efficiency standards.

This means that while builders can choose to pursue higher tier energy efficiency to meet customer demand, Tier 1 is now the minimum standard for the construction of homes and new buildings.

Energy efficiency standards for large buildings found in the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) remain at Tier 1.

For more information, contact Building and Technical Standards at 306-787-4113 or btstandards@gov.sk.ca.
