Eric Schmalz was elected as the MLA for Saskatchewan Rivers for the 2024 general election.
In November 2024, he was appointed Minister of Government Relations, Minister responsible for First Nations, Métis and Northern Affairs, and Minister responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission.
Since 2019, Eric has served as Reeve for the RM of Prince Albert.
Before entering politics, Eric served 14 years as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. In 2017, he joined his family’s business and obtained training as an auctioneer. In 2019, Eric was elected Reeve for the RM of Prince Albert in a by-election, and subsequently re-elected in the fall of 2020.
Eric resides on a farm near Prince Albert with his wife and their two children.
