Create an Organization Account
The Organization Saskatchewan Account is best for the following legal entities:
Sole proprietorships;
Partnerships, including limited partnership (LP) and limited liability partnership (LLP);
Corporations, including those that end in Ltd, Inc, Limited, Corporation, or Corp.;
Trusts, including Family Trusts, Pension Plans, RRSPs, RRIFs, Account Trusts, Employer Sponsored Plans;
3. Verify a Saskatchewan organization with a business number
A Business Number is a 9-digit account number issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and used to identify your business to federal, provincial and municipal governments.
Typical Saskatchewan businesses or organizations with a business number include:
Sole proprietorship, a business with only one owner;
Partnerships, including limited partnership (LP) and limited liability partnership (LLP);
Corporations, including those that end in Corporation, Corp., Incorporated, Inc., Limited, Ltd. and the following corporations: Non-profit Corporation, Co-operatives, Credit Unions, Banks (domestic/foreign), Extra-Provincial Insurers, Extra-Provincial and New West Partnership Corporations, Treasury Crowns, CIC Crown Corporations, Federal Crowns;
Trusts, including Family Trusts, Pension Plans, RRSPs, RRIFs, Account Trusts, Employer Sponsored Plans; and
Legislated entities as follows: Condominium Corporation, School Divisions, and Saskatchewan Indian Bands.
During the organization account creation, the administrator will need to share the following information so it can compared with the information on file at CRA:
Legal name (as verified by SGI);
The administrator's legal name as verified by SGI must be the same as the legal name used in the company's registration. If they are not the same, we'll be unable to verify your details with the CRA; and
Business number, as issued by CRA.
Business type
Information matches CRA files
If the administrator's identity can be verified online with CRA, the Organization Account will be ready for immediate use.
No match
If the administrator's information does not match that on file at CRA, they will need to contact the organization's owner/director to connect it to another Individual Account. Alternatively, the administrator can update their details with SGI and/or CRA before connecting the organization.
4. Verify a Saskatchewan sole proprietor without a business number
A business with only one owner and operating as a sole proprietor without a business number.
During organization account creation, the administrator will need to share the following information from their SGI-issued driver's licence or non-driver photo ID so we can verify their identity with the information on file at SGI:
Given name, as it appears on their SGI-issued driver's licence or non-driver photo ID;
Customer Number; and
Validation Number.
Information matches SGI files
If the administrator's identity can be verified online with SGI, the Organization Account will be ready for immediate use.
No match
If the administrator's information does not match that on file at SGI, you will need to update your details with SGI before you connect the organization to your Individual Account.
During organization account creation, the administrator will need to share the following information so we can compare it with the information on file in the Municipal Directory:
Legal name, as verified by SGI;
The administrator's legal name as verified by SGI must be the same as the name listed in the Municipal Directory. If they are not the same, we'll be unable to verify the details and issue an access code.
Municipality name; and
Municipality type.
Information matches Municipal Directory
If the administrator's municipal identity can be verified online with the Municipal Directory, we'll mail an access code and instruction to the registered address held on file within 10 business days. The administrator will connect the municipality to an Organization Account once the access code is entered.
No match
If the administrator's information does not match that on file with the Municipal Directory, they will need to contact the RM Administrator to connect the municipality to an Individual Account. Alternatively, the administrator can update the municipality details on file with the Municipal Directory before connecting the organization to an Individual Account.
6. Verify an extra-provincially registered company
An extra-provincial business (business operating outside of Saskatchewan) conducting business in Saskatchewan.
During organization account creation, the administrator will need to share the following information so we can compare it with the information on file in the Municipal Directory:
Full name;
The full name you provide must be the same as the legal name used in your company's registration. If they are not the same, we'll be unable to verify your details with the CRA and send you an access code.
Business number, as issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA); and
Business type.
Information matches CRA
If the organization's identity can be verified online with CRA, we'll mail an access code and instructions to the registered address held on file within 10 business days. The administrator will connect the organization to an Individual Account once the access code is entered.
No match
If the administrator's information does not match that on file at CRA, the administrator will need to contact their organization's owner/director to connect it to a different Individual Account. Alternatively, the administrator can update their details with CRA before connecting the organization to an Individual Account.
7. Complete the organization's profile information
After the organization has been verified and connected to the administrator’s Individual Account, they will need to complete the organization's profile information, such as:
Contact numbers;
Notification preferences;
Office locations;
Selection of services you wish to access; and
Authorized users.
Connecting an organization to Saskatchewan Account
A single business or organization can be registered only once by an individual who is authorized to act on its behalf. This authorized person will be asked to create an Individual Saskatchewan Account – if they don't already have one – to connect to the Organization Saskatchewan Account.
After doing so, they become the administrator of the organization's account who manages the services and invites users to also act on its behalf.;
Note: Your Individual Saskatchewan Account information is stored separately from your Organization Saskatchewan Account information.
