1. How Families Benefit

Regulated child care homes meet a standard of care set by the Government of Saskatchewan. These homes offer safe and engaging environments for children.

Regulated providers can offer lower rates thanks to provincial and federal subsidies. Regulated child care homes support children’s early childhood development and help set your child up for success. There are many benefits to using regulated child care, including:

  • $10 per day or $217.50 per month child care for all parents with children under the age of six starting April 1, 2023.
  • Peace of mind knowing:
    • your child is being cared for by a certified Early Childhood Educator;
    • your child is being provided nutritious meals due to regulations and monitoring;
    • the home is inspected regularly; and
    • the home is free of hazards, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Providing parents the freedom to go to work or attend school, knowing their children are in good hands.

4. Hear From a Parent Who Uses Regulated Child Care

Sanjay is a parent in Saskatoon whose four-year-old son is in a regulated family child care home. Sanjay and his wife chose regulated child care, not only because of the additional training and resources providers have access to that help keep their child safe, but also because families who use regulated child care save, on average, 70% in child care fees a year.

For Sanjay, having his child in home-based regulated child care gives him the peace of mind he needs.

“I probably save around $500 to $600 a month. [That equals] around $6,000 to $7,000 a year … on daycare due to the subsidies.”
