Public Holiday Pay Calculator

Use the Public Holiday Pay Calculator to figure out much to pay an employee for the public holiday.

In addition to public holiday pay, employees who work on a public holiday should also be paid 1.5 times the employee's hourly rate for all hours worked on the public holiday.

Before using the calculator, review what is included in Public Holiday Pay calculations.

Overtime, discretionary bonuses and gratuities are not included in the calculation. Performance bonus pay and commissions earned are included in the calculation.

To use the calculator:

Select the public holiday from the drop down list.
Enter your hourly wage.
Enter your daily hours. Include any regular hours worked and paid vacation time taken. Do not include any overtime hours worked.
Add the dollar amount for commissions earned.
Add the dollar amount for any previous Public Holiday Pay earned in the previous 28 days (for example, if you are calculating Public Holiday Pay for New Year's Day, include Public Holiday Pay earned for Christmas Day)
